Job description

About Northwave

Defending the digital frontier is our mission.

At Northwave, 275 cybersecurity specialists transform how organisations approach digital safety. From our HQ in Utrecht, our DACH HQ in Leipzig and offices in Austria, Sweden, and Belgium.

Northwave combines ethical hacking expertise with behavioral psychology insights and cutting-edge security management at the highest level. We respond to threats and anticipate them, providing 24/7 managed security services and tailored solutions for each client's journey.

By joining Northwave, you’ll become part of an organisation where innovation drives results, whether your talents lie in technical penetration testing or strategic client partnerships. Here, your expertise will grow and help shape the future of digital security across industries, leaving a lasting impact.

Your Mission

As a Business Security Consultant, you are first and foremost a strategic business advisor who secures digital transformation. You bridge the gap between core business objectives and complex cybersecurity challenges—translating emerging threats and regulatory mandates into pragmatic, value-driving strategies. You do not need to be a deep technical expert on day one; your strength lies in understanding client business models, acting as a trusted sparring partner to senior executives, and leading concrete decision-making. You don't need years of cybersecurity experience—what matters most is your hunger to learn on the job, your structured thinking, and your passion for building authentic customer relationships.

Your projects span security strategy, risk management, framework compliance (e.g., NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001), and Northwave’s holistic managed security operations. Your role transitions dynamically from conducting assessments to orchestrating implementations and delivering ongoing advisory. Working with mid-sized to large businesses across the DACH region, you ensure clients do not just receive advice, but actively execute it. You seamlessly collaborate with Northwave’s specialized technical, behavioral, and incident response teams—acting as the strategic integrator who drives meaningful business impact and unlocks new consultancy growth opportunities.

As you grow into the role, you will take ownership of client engagements, manage end-to-end projects, and actively spot new opportunities to deliver value across our expanding DACH footprint.

You like to

  • Rapidly analyze business models, diverse industry contexts, and organizational challenges.

  • Turn abstract threat landscapes and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001) into actionable, strategic roadmaps.

  • Present to senior stakeholders, driving executive decisions through creative problem-solving and clear communication.

  • Act as a consultative partner who identifies business opportunities by putting genuine client value first.

  • Channel your curiosity for cybersecurity into mastering the domain alongside cross-functional experts.

What you can expect from us

  • First things first: You will get 30 days' holiday per year and we contribute a minimum of 20% to your company pension plan (bAV). You can organise your own working hours in consultation with your colleagues and customers.

  • A mobility budget, also for private use, makes trips to your customers easier. Of course, we also pay travelling allowances.

  • What do you want to achieve and what support do you need? You will receive regular training and support in achieving your professional goals. You can also develop further within Northwave.

  • It is important to us to respect and value each other - as professionals and as people. The best way to get to know your 275+ colleagues from the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Sweden is to take part in one of our many activities, such as a trip to the theme park.

  • You will be equipped with a modern MacBook and iPhone. We have height-adjustable desks in our offices and our CEO loves to kit us out with merchandise ;-)

what else...

No, the fruit basket in the office is not a benefit for us, but a matter of course - just like coffee, tea and lemonade. Have you ever tried Dutch caramel waffles?

Job requirements

  • Consulting Foundation: Proven track record in business or IT strategy consulting with exceptional structured problem-solving skills.

  • Cyber Curiosity: A genuine passion for securing digital transformation; prior exposure to security or risk frameworks is a bonus, but a high drive to learn is essential.

  • Executive Presence: Ability to build immediate trust with board-level stakeholders and navigate diverse corporate cultures.

  • Entrepreneurial Drive: An independent, value-driven mindset eager to contribute to our growing DACH footprint.

  • Languages: Business fluency in German and English.
